Trust in the Midst of Fear

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid, for the Lord God is my strength and my might; he has become my salvation. (Isaiah 12:2, NRSV)

Fear is often our first reaction when life feels out of control, whether it’s war abroad, division at home, or uncertainty in our own lives. But Isaiah reminds us of a deeper, older truth: that God alone is our salvation. Not our systems. Not our strength. Not even our certainty.

Isaiah’s bold words are a declaration of who God is, not just what God can do. The Lord is both strong and personal, mighty and merciful. In a world that offers us plenty of reasons to be afraid, Scripture calls us to trust the One who holds all things together. Not by ignoring the brokenness around us, but by anchoring our hearts in the God who saves.
