The Waiting is Over. The Promise has Arrived.
Tonight, we move from waiting to wonder. The child is born, angels sing, and shepherds run with joy. Isaiah’s words echo true: a light has dawned, shattering the world’s gloom (Isaiah 9:2-7). The grace of God has appeared—not as thunder or fire, but as a baby wrapped in cloth, lying in a manger (Luke 2:1-20).
At Bethel, we celebrate the miracle of a Savior who comes close. In Jesus, God steps into our world, not to observe, but to redeem. He is Emmanuel. He is our peace. He is the fulfillment of every promise (Titus 2:11-14).
So we gather, with awe and gratitude, to receive the good news: “To you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.”
As we light the Christ candle tonight, what darkness are you asking the Christ child to illuminate?
