Text arranged in the shape of a Christmas tree with a star on top: Rejoicing that God still fills our world with the radiant light of Christ.

December 28, 2025 | First Sunday After Christmas

Children of God, Filled with Christ’s Light

In this week’s lectionary readings, Psalm 147 praises God as the One who strengthens, blesses, and nourishes His people with steadfast care. Isaiah rejoices in God clothing the people with salvation, crowning them with righteousness, and making them shine like a new dawn. In Galatians, Paul proclaims that through Christ’s coming, we move from spiritual guardianship into full adoption as God’s beloved children. John’s Gospel takes us to the beginning: the Word who was with God, who is God, who becomes flesh and shines light into every darkness. Together, these readings reveal a God who feeds us, clothes us, claims us, and fills our world with the radiant light of Christ.

Where do you need Christ’s light to shine most clearly in your life as this new year approaches?
