Called by Name
In this week’s lectionary scriptures, Psalm 40 celebrates the God who draws us out of the pit, sets our feet on solid ground, and fills our mouths with praise. Isaiah speaks of God’s servant called from the womb to be a light for the nations. Paul reminds the Corinthians that they are sanctified, gifted, and strengthened as they await Christ’s revealing. In John’s Gospel, John the Baptist identifies Jesus as the Lamb of God, and Jesus calls his first disciples by name to follow Him. These readings show a God who lifts us up, calls us forth, equips us richly, and draws us into the transforming work of Christ.
Where is Jesus inviting you to “come and see” His work in your life this week?
