Rev. Al Carroll, Interim Senior Pastor
Pastor Al (she/her) came to Bethel in Fall 2021 when she began her MDiv studies at Boston University. She is a graduate from Point Loma Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Arts in French and Christian Studies. Al has a special interest in Spiritual Care, which includes lament and mental health. She drinks an obscene amount of Diet Coke. She received her district license in the Church of the Nazarene in June 2023. She is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Al’s specific areas of ministry at Bethel include building usage, serving on the worship and facilities committee, and teaching children’s Sunday School.
Rev. Brad DuPerre, Associate Pastor
Pastor Brad (he/ him) graduated from Eastern Nazarene College with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry in 2022. He has been on staff at Bethel Church of the Nazarene since January of 2023, and he got his local minister’s license through Bethel in April 2023.
When he is not reading scripture, offering pastoral prayer, or preaching at Bethel, Brad is a middle school history teacher at Nazarene Christian Academy in New Bedford. In his work and his ministry, Brad has been able to make good use of his love of biblical scholarship and history and his passion for helping those in need. In his free time, Brad enjoys reading and exercising, especially going for runs. Brad also enjoys watching TV shows and playing video games, especially history-oriented ones. He is grateful to be a part of a community full of loving people who are intentional in their faith.
Brad’s specific ministries at Bethel include teaching teen Sunday School and serving on the fellowship committee.
Rev. Abby Kingsbury, Associate Pastor
Pastor Abby joined the staff at Bethel in September 2022. She graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry. As a history teacher at a private Christian academy, Pastor Abby is able to apply her biblical knowledge with her pastoral teaching abilities in a classroom setting. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, reading, and anime.
Abby’s specific areas of ministry at Bethel include pastoral care and substituting when and where needed.
Rev. Esther Bowen, Assistant Pastor
Pastor Esther (she/her) has been a member of Bethel for over 50 years. She began as a very involved lay leader and eventually responded to God’s pastoral call on her life in the 1980s. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling from Eastern Nazarene College, then went on to seminary at Andover Newton Theological School, where she completed a Master of Divinity.
Esther has continued to serve Bethel in a number of different capacities through teaching, counseling, preaching, music, and leading the liturgical worship “movement” in the church since its beginning in 1992. She has been a hospital chaplain for twenty years. Pastor Esther has a passion for liturgy, music, reading, cooking, and visiting the beaches of Cape Cod as much as possible!
