Righteous Shepherd, King of Peace
In this week’s lectionary scriptures, Jeremiah promises the coming of the righteous Branch of David, who will shepherd God’s scattered flock. The Canticle of Zechariah (Luke 1) echoes peace and redemption. Colossians declares Christ as first, supreme over all creation. In Luke 23, on the cross, Jesus promises Paradise to the repentant. Christ our King reigns in mercy, restores justice, and grants grace.
