Get to Know Us: Stories of Faith, Family, and Community at Bethel

At Bethel Church of the Nazarene, we believe the church isn’t just a building, it’s a family. Every week, people from different backgrounds, cultures, and life journeys come together to worship, grow, serve, and support one another. This blog series, Get to Know Us, is our way of celebrating the beautiful diversity within our congregation.

Through a set of simple interview questions, you’ll meet the people who make Bethel what it is. We hope these stories help you feel more connected, inspired, and at home as you discover the unique ways God is at work in each of our lives.

Welcome to the family. Let’s get to know each other.

Here are some words from Tabitha Baskin.

I began attending Bethel while I was a student at ENC. I hadn’t yet found a church, and one of my professors invited me. I liked the people, got involved, and never left. Currently, I am on the church board and the discipleship committee. I also play my ukulele a few Sundays a month for the blessing of the students.

I’ve always loved the community of Bethel, not just the people who attend, from Sunday to Sunday, but also the way Bethel strives to meet the needs of our neighborhood community.

Attending Bethel has helped me not only heal from previous harmful messaging I grew up learning, but in being the community oriented church that it is, has so beautifully demonstrated how the church should be. Not just a place to come, sing Godly songs, and say you’re better than other people, but to love people and act on that love by being community.

What would I say to someone considering Bethel? Join us. If you are looking for a place to feel welcomed and accepted, come. If you are looking for a place to support you while you question, come. If you’re looking for somewhere be the hands and feet of Jesus and not just sing songs about it, come.

Spread the love
