International Transgender Day of Visibility

Honoring the Dignity, Courage, and Sacred Worth of Every Person

Each year on March 31, communities around the world observe Transgender Day of Visibility, a day dedicated to celebrating the lives, dignity, and contributions of transgender and nonbinary people. It is also a time to recognize the challenges many transgender people continue to face, including discrimination, misunderstanding, and barriers to safety and belonging.

For people of faith, the call to honor human dignity is deeply rooted in scripture. The Bible reminds us that every person is created in the image of God. This sacred truth affirms the worth of every human life and calls us to treat one another with compassion, humility, and respect.

Visibility matters because it helps communities move beyond fear and misunderstanding. When people share their stories and identities openly, it creates opportunities for deeper understanding and relationship. As followers of Christ, we are called to be communities where all people can be seen, known, and treated with dignity.

Transgender Day of Visibility invites us to listen, learn, and reflect on how we can build communities where every person knows they belong. In doing so, we participate in God’s ongoing work of justice, compassion, and reconciliation in the world.

Prayer

God of love and creation,

You formed every person in your image and called your creation good.

Help us honor the dignity of all people and grow in compassion and understanding.

Strengthen those who face prejudice or exclusion, and guide us in building communities of safety, respect, and belonging.

May your Spirit lead us in the ways of love and justice.

Amen.
